The Selection Panel from Tourism Queensland will review all applications and announce the 50 short-listed candidates on March 2, 2009.
Eleven candidates will then proceed to the interview stage, including one Wild Card based on popular votes. So make sure all of your friends and family vote for your application.

Best Job in the World

I am creating this blog to be used in applying for the job of Caretaker of the Islands of the Great Barrier Reef. I will either continue to use this blog if I get the job or create another blog as I am directed.

Caretaker Speech

G’Day Mates. My name is David Bryant. I think I would be a perfect match for your caretaker job.

I own and have used for many years digital video and still photography equipment. I am expert enough with computers to have taught classes about using them. I have started several blogs of my own and put my pictures in them.

I would have no trouble meeting groups of people or reporters as speaking in public does not scare me a bit.

I am an avid outdoors person and would thoroughly enjoy roaming about the islands recording what I encounter with a video and or still camera.

I was lucky enough to be able to visit Australia and New Zealand a few years ago. I found the country and it’s people extremely enjoyable and would love to be able to come back and be paid for the privilege.

Last but not least, I speak the language. In fact I speak Australian, Texan, Canadian, British and Merican fluently.
